Error when saving slab doors.

Post by Mark Ruby »

I recently installed Ecabinets on my computer. When I tried to create a new slab door I received the error message, "Unable to open ECabinets file data". When I closed that error window I received another error message, "There was an error: 909; processing PK_BODY_create_sheet_planar".

I thought that perhaps because I was using a material I had created that this was causing the problem, but when I tried to create a new door with the ECabinets generic materials I got the same feedback. When I opened the Thermwood/ECabinets door file folders in my Program Files it had actually saved the doors, but there is no way to access those doors when I am in the door/drawer editor.

Thanks,

My original should read, "When I try to save a new door in the Door/Drawer editor I get the error messages".

Thanks,

Do you have the V5.2B2 update saved to your computer? If so, I want you to close ecabinets and double click the update. When you run this it will prompt you to remove. Once you remove the update re run the update and install it. If you do not have the V5.2B2 update then go to www.ecabinetsystems.com and click on the updates tab, then follow the directions on the screen to save and install the update.

Hey Justin,

I removed and reinstalled the latest ecabinets version with no effect.

Thanks,

can you give me step by step on how you created this door. What material was used for the door and edgebanding. I will need to reproduce this. All information would help. Double check as well with the version of the software, go up to help then about ecabinets and see what version and build it says. Please let me know.

Justin,

From the startup page when ecabinets opens:

1. Develop Door or Drawer front designs.

2. Select Source: Slab.

3. Select Directory: Standard.

4. Select Door: Standard Slab.

5. Materials: The first time I used a material I created called "3/4 Maple A-1 Grade", but any material I choose has the same result, even the materials that come preloaded with ecabinets.

6. Banding Stock: My original was my "Maple Premium Grade", but again any material used has the same error.

7. Build In House or Alternate Source, same response.

8. You can Reset View and it will show what the new door looks like.

9. Save: A "Save Door/Drawer Front" dialog box opens so you can choose the Directory and Name of the door. I tried to create a new directory called Mark's Slab Doors and named the door Auerbach. That is when the errors described in my first post started appearing. "Unable to open ECabinets file data" pops up first. When I close that box another pops up, "There was an error: 909; processing PK_BODY_create_sheet_planar". The latter reopens four times each time I close it.

10. When I looked into the, D:\Program Files\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\doors\Saved\Slab for the first time after the original save attempt, neither my new directory or my new door was there. I then created the new directory thinking that would help, D:\Program Files\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\doors\Saved\Slab\Mark's Slab Doors. I then went back to the, Develop Door or Drawer Front Designs in ecabinets and did not see the new directory under Select Directory, but when I went through the same process of creating the door the directory Mark's Slab Doors showed up when I hit the Save option. I was able to kind of save the door, and several other versions to the, D:\Program Files\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\doors\Saved\Slab\Mark's Slab Doors, folder, however, the same error messages appeared after each save. Also when I am in the "Develop Door or Drawer front designs" area those new doors are not able to be accessed or utilized in any way. Also, I can see, but not access, whatever door I last tried to save in the "Reset View" box when I select Standard/Slab, until the time I close and reopen ecabinets.

Hope this helps,

Mark

If you change the directory name from Mark's Slab Doors to Marks slab Doors, it will work just fine. The apostrophe if what is causing the issue with saving.
