Info on Labels

How's it going?


Just wondering if there any way that (or in the furture) have the tape info on the labels? So the guy on the floor knows, e.g to put 1mm white or 2mm colour edgetape on the board.

We have the exact same problem. We usually have 3 or more different edge tapes on our jobs. Yeah it would be great to see the type of edge tape to be applied on the label.

I'm definitely all for that! Our last job was a nightmare, tons of things got the wrong banding.

I would like to add my support for having the colour on the edge as all edges do not always have the same colour. This is a big cost value when this is done wrong and also downgrades your quality of work as simply stripping off a old edge and redoing it over the old glue line is not as clean as doing right the first time..
Please move this up the importance scale and not wait for version 6 to arrive. Think of the landfill you will save happening and the industrial accidents when parts get thrown to the floor with the wrong edge done by a junior worker.Think of the worker who is regularly verbally abused and the nightmares it causes him or her.

Also think about putting the edging details on your drawer parts. Where do the edges go and what colour?

I have a neat idea for you Thermwood employees. How about designing a bar code reader that resides before the feed in conveyor of the edger. It reads the bar code label from the part then send a message to the 10 inch computer screen "this is the edging details for this part" and" here is a bigger picture of the part in your hand".
Then if you could work out how to put a bar code label on the edge band roll you could have the user scan this roll before setting it up on the edger so the software knew the roll installed and thus message could be we think you have the wrong roll set up. It shows as being this colour when in fact it should be white. Man that would be good. If something was edged the wrong colour they would be hunting for a good excuse.

Now this may be a real wacky idea. You have the loading cart for the cabinet parts under a spot light system. You run the bar code of the part under a scanner then a light will show them where the part should be put in the cart cubical. If its the wrong client job selected they know a client job part is out of sequence and put it elsewhere. At the end of the cart process the computer screen will say what parts are missing. You hunt those down or you sign off but a report is printed with the results. This makes it much quicker to load, makes the carts accurately packed and missing parts are noted and found.

I must have too much time on my hands.

We too have probs where the wrong tape is put on and big probs are made after it.

Yes. A plan to implement a flexible interface for manipulating labels is planned for the future. I would like for all of you guys to send in feedback from eCabinets. The more feedbacks we get asking to have this added to the software the better the chances are for a faster result. What you need to do is inside eCabinets go to communications then feedback.
