How to place moldings on an end panel?

Post by Joe Harkin »

I want to place a thin panel molding on the end panel of a cabinet, for example to form a decorative rectangle. What is the best/simplest way to accomplish this ?

Hey Joe, you can apply molding to a panel by first having the cabinet in the Cabinet Editor, then select Load Item>moldings, select the molding you want, then the angle and length you need, click OK. The molding will show up at the target, hilite it, then by using the Rotate, Move Increment and Align Items functions apply the molding on the cabinet. You can also edit the molding in the right click menu. You can also copy and paste (Ctrl C Ctrl V) for multiple pieces. When done hilite all the parts and the cabinet and right click Associate to keep it there. With some practice it becomes quite easy. HTH

It would be great if the programmers could add an outside scribe setting to the moulding editor so you could float the left and right mouldings off the cabinet to compensate for the end panels like you can do in the faceframe editor.

Hey Al, a quick workaround for that is to take a cabinet, delete all the parts except the top. add the molding and save it as adjustable crown.
