What I meant was useing it in eCab. in place of Excell to export your cutlist.
I am trying to export my eCab cutlist to another cutlist/proposal program and it has to be a CSV file.
I exported my eCab cutlist ok but when i went to save the file to CSV it only changes the the part of the file that is on the screen, not the whole file.

I thought that someone may be using Open Office and could give me some information.

Gary, I think you can only save the active sheet. So each sheet as to be saved with a different name. Also there maybe compatibility issues with the layout or format.

Gary there is no problem using Open offices' spreadsheet with eCabs

I agree Nick, the compatibility issue would be with the cutlist program (column placement, etc).

Well Guys,

I finally got open office to transfer eCab. info. Had to change it to a CVS file. Yes Rick you are right had to save the plywood on one file and the hard wood on another.
Had problems with cutlist plus converting on its own, so I had to copy and paste,and set up the delimiter,and set one cabinet so cutlist plus could convert to it's formatt.

It works great the only thing different was the amount of plywood sheets. Cutlist plus requried 2 more sheets, than e cab.
Will just waite and see when running the job on who's right.

Gary,

Make sure on your eCab nest that there weren't some parts that wouldn't cut from your sheet size. This could account for the two sheet difference.

You should be able to tell by looking at the nest diagrams where the difference lies.

I'm glad you got that figured out Gary cause I feel your pain. I had to do the same thing a while back . Learning Excel the hard way.

I am a little slow of this whole excel thing. What is the purpose for spreadsheet print out? Is this for use with routers? I have downloaded a cutlist to excel and thought it was just as easy to use as ecab cut list. What is the difference?

Hi John,

It is just a matter of preference. I am use to cutlist plus and in order to get it there I have to take my eCab cutlist to Excell and then take it to cutlist plus. To understand cutlist plus go to cutlist plus .com and take a look. The one thing I like is that you can put the part name & number on the sheet of plywood that you print out insted of printing out a lot of lables.

But like I said it's just what you are use to.

I am used to Cabint Vision. Where I work my boss uses it. It prints everything seperate: Door parts, face frame parts, board stock parts, etc. I like it except it takes a lot of paper to do that. I am getting used to ecabs. I don't use a router yet so the only thing I use nesting for is to help price a job based on actual material used. No sense paying for a whole sheet of plywood when I only use half. My boss likes the fact that I use ecabs because now I just get prices of material and figure it my self.

John, what's also handy about excel is you can sort and edit your list.
