Offalls

Post by Neville Bastian »

Not sure if I'm using the correct term but the keeping a track of all the left over parts of the sheet is a brilliant part of the software. My leftovers is a marked reduction on my previous nested software and I am turning green. Well almost if I could part with the V8's
The only thing I would love to do is keep a track of the material that comes in different colours. Would it be too hard to add a field where you could say the melamine mdf offcut is undefined colour or antique white, folkstone grey? That way if you did a report on melamine mdf it would sort by colour then by offcut size then part number?
This would enable me to keep my costs down by ordering only what I need and reduce this coloured board stockholding.
If this had the option of exporting as a excel file as well as hard copy I could even have it on my desktop and have quick access.

Neville,

I would think that you would want to set up a material database of the different color melamines/mdf that you use. If you use a defined material rather than a generic material when building your project, your offalls will coincide with the material used.

That's true Damon but the range of colours is huge so have a material for each colour may be a nightmare to look after. Adding a extra field would allow the operator at the time to add the colour door material he was using or leave it blank and be termed undefined. I was thinking this would be at the control not in ecabinets.
Just a thought to save some time sorting through the offcuts on the workshop floor.
