I have been tooling around with ecab for about a year or so now and have become a bit more proficient with each design. The one downside is that I do almost all one-off pieces so every design is mostly started from scratch. I am interested to see how long it is taking other users to do a custom design in ecabs. I attached an image of an oak entertainment center i put together for a customer to house a plasma and all the other electronics hidden away. Normally this is about as in-depth as i get into the design and rendering. So please post how long it is taking you to do a design around the same caliber and any other comments on the subject.

Anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. Kitchens are going to take considerably longer.

I have to agree with Damon about 1-2 hours.
When you start getting into duplicating the room that the piece is going to be in and trying to get the colors of the walls, floor base trim and so on it adds to the time.

Well 1-2 hrs makes me see that i need a bit more seat time in front of the cumputer.

If I were not just copying your piece, meaning I had to create the design, find dimensions for the television as well as play around with different design elements to get the look just right and then produce presentation drawings etc, I would probably spend from 4 to 6 hours on something like this. (If I were to get real picky on the details it could be much more) I can spend 1 to 2 hours just thinking about a piece. I can also spend a great deal of time getting the presentation drawings where I want them.

Yes Kerry is right the more attention to detail you have the longer it's going to take, what I have a hard time with is getting the lighting the way I want it.

My designs are usually to scale and not just images to sell a projects. So the last couple responses made me feel a little more confident in using the program. Although it's never a bad thing to keep practicing. Hope to see even more user's projects and concepts, every idea sparks a new one.
