Dead links in old forum posts

Post by DanEpps »

As many have noticed, links in old posts produce a "not found" page instead of the linked post.

This is when they recently installed a new server, Dean changed the name from http://www.thermwood.com/forums to http://www.thermwood.com/forums. Since the links are stored in a database they were left unchanged. I sent Dean some code to repair the links.

Until then, just look at the address shown at the lower left of the browser when hovering over the link. Then you can enter the URL it shows into the address bar, changing "ntc" to "www" and it will get the correct post. You have to enter it exactly as shown for it to work...i.e. it has to have the ?f=<number>&t=<number> as shown.

That's because I picked a new post with a new link

Dean ran the fix and all links should be active now. Please let him know if any dead links show up.

I am glad you mentioned that Rick, I can't tell you how long I looked at both of those trying not to ask the obvious. For a minute I thought maybe I need glasses.
