Dan, I thought our schools up here in New York closed many times for nothing. I like your kinds of blizzards!! Can you send some of your extreme weather up this way??
Yeah, the goofy weather-guessers around here got it all wrong. They said we might have a few flurries but not to expect any accumulation. This just shows that they have no idea wht they are talking about and we got blindsided with this blizard. I'll bet the stores didn't even sell out of milk and bread!
A friend in upstate NY sent us a picture a couple of years ago with a trench (canyon?) cut into 15 foot deep snow that passed for a road. You can keep that stuff.
Dan, thankfully we don't get the 15" snow falls, but this year we have been getting more than our usual. It is amazing to see grocery stores the day before a snow storm is predicted. You would think that people never saw snow. They are stocking up like they will be snowed in for a month.

I think I need to move south!
We have had really cold weather for the last several weeks. Just a few days ago it was 9 degrees with a high of 21 for the day. Its 19 this morning and its going all the way into the high 50s by afternoon.
Thats the real killer here, the roller-coaster ride between single-digits and 60s. You take a heavy coat with you when its 60 because it might be 20 in a few hours. Likewise, you take short sleeves with you when its 20 because it might be 60 in a few hours.
Thankfully we haven't had any below zero temps in several years. The all-time low here was -10 about 20 years or so back.
Wow, we woke up this morning to -24f. And that is not the coldest it's been this year. We had 4 days in a row that the thermometer read 30 below and colder. The worst this year being -37f. School was only canceled twice due to windchills of -60f. That is 60 degrees Fahrenheit below zero for those of you wisely using the metric system...And I wear shorts all year round. Only own 2 pair of long pants, one for funerals and weddings, the other for ice fishing and deer hunting.

Dude, I think your brain has been frozen. We would never survive temps that cold.
We got hit with a couple of inches of sleet, freezing rain and snow and there is more to come tonight. Watch out everybody on the east coast, it's heading your way.
