Hello everybody out there in ecabinet land. I need help.
I have been using ecabinets and a Thermwood router for the last 2 1/2 years. Well the last 3 cabinets I have programmed I have had problems with the draw boxes. They are coming out narrower then they should be. I put the appropriate opening's in shelf part editor then go to draw box editor put in all my insets and the box is coming out 3/16 smaller then it should. I go back to shelf part editor and it is saying the openings are 3/16 smaller then what I put in. Then I go to the main screen and use my measure tool and it says the correct opening size ( the opening I programmed) but the draw box editor is sizing the draws to the phantom size the shelf part editor is coming up with.
Help! I thought that my seed cab may have gotten corrupted so I created a new seed cab. Same thing happened. Now I am thinking my hole ecabinets software may be corrupted. What do I do.
I put the setting in for each box because they change from box to box. For the bottom draw in the stack the setting were hight 7.125 bottom inset .5625 left inset.1875 right inset .1875 min depth 21". Dan I have been doing this like this for the past 2 years and have been very happy with the results up intill the last couple of weeks.
Whenever I loaded the cabinet, the shelf section shows 10.5". How are you getting the 10.3127" to show for the shelf sections? I am loading the Sallys Bathroom B1.hsf file that you uploaded. Is this the latest file of this cabinet you have?
That cabinet really acts squirrely. If you go from the DB Editor (after selecting a drawer box) into the Shelf/Partition Editor, the opening size changes!
I took everything out of it and started from the empty box. First, I added the partitions back and set the opening sizes. After verifying the openings, I added the shelves back and verified the openings again.
Then I added the drawer boxes using your specs and verified the openings yet again. Everything was still correct.
Next I added the stretcher back and set its location. Verified the openings again and everything is still correct.
There must be some sequence of steps that you are going through that produced unpredictable results. If you can reproduct this from scratch (using a standard frameless base with generic materials), post the exact steps and I will see if I get the same results.
Here is my modified version of your cabinet. Check EVERYTHING before you use it in a job though.

Dan I already made a new seed cabinet and it did the same thing. All the opening are correct untill I put the Draw boxes in. I do not belive the sequence in which I built the cabinet is the problem. Like I said I have been using ecabinets for 2 1/2 years and have never had this problem.
I understand, but there have been many revisions to eCabinets over the last 2-1/2 years. Some of these revisions have caused parts of the program to behave in unexpected ways and produce unpredictable results when certain sequences of operations are performed.
It is very important that the programmers know exactly what sequence of steps you followed that produce this issue so they can find the underlying problem.
Dan I used your cabinet and created a new cab for the next part of the job I am working on with absolutely no problem. I then built the same cab in the same order with my seed cabinet and had the same results as stated in my original post.
For now I need to get this work done, so I am going to use your cabinet as my seed. Thank you for your help. If there is anything further that you need I will be happy to provide.
Dan the cabinet is a simple 1. There is only 1 sequence I can think of to produce it.
1. I start with my standard frameless seed cab
2. I then size the box
3. then I put the partitions in
4. add the stretcher
5. the fixed shelves
6. the draw boxes starting from the top
Those are about the same steps I followed but I started with your cabinet and removed the drawer boxes, shelves, partitions and stretcher. The stretcher was the last item I added and I did not resize the box since it was already the correct size.
Before I did this I could go from one editor to another and the opening size would change. I went from the Cabinet Editor to the Shelf/Partition Editor and the size changed. Then I went from the Shelf Editor to the Drawer Box Editor and the size changed again and now I could not select a drawer box to remove it.
I cleared the workspace and reloaded the cabinet then went directly to the Drawer Box Editor. This time I could select a drawer box but after returning to Main and going back into the Drawer Box Editor, I again could not select a drawer box.
When you get time, try to reproduce it and record the exact sequence of steps you performed--every editor you entered, every change you made, every part you added/removed/modified and any errors encountered along the way.
This will help the programmers tremendously in determining what happened along the way and getting it corrected.
