I hoping someone has done a work around on this one.
I'm trying to get the cost of hardware to come through which is not listed in the defunked Ecabinets shop.
If you drill holes in the base of a cabinet for plastic base and feet/legs is there a way for something to show up in buy report? Even if its the wrong item we know what it really is.
There is no way you can get all the screws used to screw the cabinet box together, the screws for the drawer boxes or the screw for the drawer runners is there? I really hope this makes the version 6 release.
It seems that we have all the costs of material carefully calculated with percentage for waste shown but some items are slipping the net. Some may say this is small enough to be classed as consumables but it really is needed to be shown as you can work out what is being used each month in these small items and work out your shrinkage.

Neville

Re: Hardware added to drilling operation
I think an alternative would be to create a display part. When you save it, you can check to have it added to the cut list and include a price. Then if you place the display part in the cabinet and associate it it will be listed and the price included. The display part can be hidden from view.
This would be a work around until the programmers provide you with another means. I believe they are working on something, but I don't know what that will look like.

Re: Hardware added to drilling operation
Neville,
You can add levelers to your cabinets to get a count in the buy list.
Open the cabinet in the Cabinet editor
Click on the Define Defaults/Add Items Icon
Click on Go to Cabinet Items
Click on Click Here to add Item
Choose Cabinet/ Furniture Supplies
Choose Levelers
Choose Hafele
Choose one of the levelers (closest to your actual cost)
Click Add and enter the number you want associated to this cabinet.
Do the same for the toe clops
Save the cabinet and the levelers will show up on the buy list.
Do this for all the parts you want associated to this cabinet. You may not get the exact part or price but it will throw up a flag for you to calculate these costs.
I am thinking, now that the Member Store is gone we will have greater flexibility in adding hardware and their associated costs in future versions.

Re: Hardware added to drilling operation
Thanks Dennis and Kerry. I will give your suggestions a try.
It will be interesting to see what is done about assigning hardware items to holes in the new version. The only thing that is a concern is Kens statement a few weeks back that it has been a difficult job unravelling Ecabinets store from Ecabinets. I was hoping we still had all that detail there but the ability to insert our own hardware, price and drilling patterns. Maybe I misunderstood Ken but it would be nice to have some explaination to what they are doing with that side of the program.
It could be good but just seems strange that you have all these fervent users of Ecabinets and there opinion is never publicly sort?
Better get back to work
Regards

Re: Hardware added to drilling operation
My understanding is that the hardware hole pattern will no longer have an association with specific hardware. You would assign a hole pattern to your cabinet components, i.e., door, drawer boxes, etc. The actual hardware would be assigned separately and accessed from your hardware database. Initially, the database may be fairly simple but could grow as needs are identified. The whole process should be less confusing.
I'm not sure what details would be included in the hardware database, but suggestions could be offered.

Re: Hardware added to drilling operation
Dennis,
No corners should be cut in this area when re-designing the software. We need the ability to associate every piece of hardware needed to construct a cabinet down to the screws and shelf pins. We need to be able to associate multiple hinges and mounts as well as multiple slides and mounts to any one cabinet. We need the ability to account for every ornament and accessory and outsourced component as well. These items must show up in a bill of materials and buy list with accurate costs from multiple vendors that we can provide. There must also be the ability to show the holes for all of these components. Many of these holes such as those for slides, hinges, levelers, pulls, KD fittings etc. need to be associated to the component so we don't have to create each hole in the part editor.
If these things are addressed properly in version 6 then eCabinets will be the best software available.
