David,

As I recall from another post, you are running a Mac with virtualization.

Please provide the Virtual Machine (VM) settings; this would help with debugging. Technically speaking, the Mac and virtualization aren't really supported. Here's what you should post about your virtual machine:
  • 1. Virtualization Software (ie: Parallels or VMWare Fusion)
    2. Virtualization Software version
    3. Processor and number of processors allocated to the VM
    4. Amount of Memory allocated to the VM and how much is in your Mac
    5. Type of Graphics emulation and virtual Video RAM amount
    6. Windows version and Service Pack level
    7. Antivirus software running in the VM
Others may chime in with requirements.

Please provide the Virtual Machine (VM) settings; this would help with debugging. Technically speaking, the Mac and virtualization aren't really supported. Here's what you should post about your virtual machine:

1. Virtualization Software (ie: Parallels or VMWare Fusion)
2. Virtualization Software version
3. Processor and number of processors allocated to the VM
4. Amount of Memory allocated to the VM and how much is in your Mac
5. Type of Graphics emulation and virtual Video RAM amount
6. Windows version and Service Pack level
7. Antivirus software running in the VM
Others may chime in with requirements.
1. VMWare Fusion
2. 2.0.2 Build 147997
3. Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 with 1 cpu allocated to the vm
4. 2GB allocated to VM, 6GB total (Corsair PC10600 DDR3)
5. Xfx geForce 9800 GT (512mb) on the mac (vmware has vmware tools installed with 128mb allocated to the vm according to the vmx config file) as well the "Accelerate 3D Graphics" is checked in the settings
6. Window XP SP3 (with all updates from microsoft update as of today)
7. No anti-virus software, only windows defender with latest definitions and the windows firewall on moderate settings
8. If you need any more information I can provide it.

Thank you.

David,

I have setup your VM and am unable to reproduce the problem. Please ZIP your job file and email it to cabinets@ecabinetsystems.com and put Attn: Dean in the subject. I'll test it.

Again, I want to state that using eCabinet Systems in a Virtual Machine is not supported. VMWare's virtual machines support DirectX 9.0 2D Shaders. eCabinet Systems uses an OpenGL 3D engine, a competitor of Microsoft DirectX.

David,

I have reproduced the crash on VMWare 2.0.2 for Macintosh. Unfortunately, the crash does not occur on VMWare 6.5.1 for Windows nor does it occur on native Windows Vista x64 (my workstation). At the current time because of the unsupported platform, we won't be able to work on your issue.

That being said, I can tell you that our distributor in South Africa has been having good luck with Parallels for Macintosh.
