placing wall cabinets on countertops

Post by Don Nichelson »

I am trying to build an office and want the wall cabinets to sit atop the countertop but can't seem to figure it out. I've changed the standard wall cabinet placement height but that didn't seem to adjust. Also how do I put a countertop if there are no base cabinets to place the countertop on?

In elevation view, select the cabinets and move them down. Make sure you are in freestyle mode.

You can place a counter top but you have to use base cabinets or make it from a display cube/panel. You can make base cabinets with all parts removed except the back and change the size of the back so it is small enough to use as a "marker" for the counter top.

I tried this and it worked.

1. Install base cabinets. At least the ones you need so that you have the markers or nodes for the countertop to build to.
2. Install the countertop.
3. Hide the countertop.
4. Delete the cabinets.
5. Show the countertop. It's still there!

I don't know if this would cause any problems later, but it doesn't seem to.

You can also use the counter-top overhang settings to increase the length of the top over a base cab.
