Profiling in a nest

Post by Sean O' Hare »

When I try to apply a profile in a nest using custom tools, I get strange results. If interior & exterior MDF door tools are enabled, it will use those for 1 region each regardless of the diameter of tool. If they are disabled, the program will model a profile even if a tool to match the profile is available. Am I missing a way to nominate a tool for a particular profile? I thought it was selected based on exact diameter, but it seems not. I know I can do it in PM, but I would like to do it in the nest.
I am running PM 2.2.1, RN5.47 Ecabs build 5. Settings are metric.
A side issue, when I hover the mouse over a part in the load screen in PM, the dimensions displayed are imperial. Can be confusing.

Thanks for any help,
sean

When nesting a door panel, you must utilize the tooling settings under: Control Nesting/SETTINGS/MDF Door Tool Options to define what tools will be used to machine a profile door in a nest. If you have additional questions regarding your file setup, you can email the design file along with the EXPORT file from Control nesting to:
program@thermwood.com for further reveiw.

Ryan,
thanks for the prompt response. Nesting doors works fine, its other panels. For instance, a fluted pillaster with 3 identical flutes, drawn in ecabs with a 12mm spherical cutter that matches 1 set up in the machine. I expect it to make 1 pass for each flute with that cutter. Instead, the control will model the cuts using various tools.

thank you,

Did you check MDF Door Tooling option in SETTINGS?
