Thermwood and Microvellum

I know there were some threads (in 2007) about problems with Microvellum playing nice with the Thermwood router. How are things today? Are there any Thermwood machine owners using Microvellum successfully.
Any input about the combination would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,

Microvellum machines fine with thermwood. Our company owns it and it was quite easy to integrate it with the machine. I give credit here to thermwood in making their machines so user friendly in any aspect.

But I was pretty disappointed with microvellum because their customer support/ technical servise/ software support is beneath any critic. The learning curve with microvellum is quite steep so make sure you plan to put enough people and patience in softwaer integration. Plus expect charge for any possible option with that software although they say it's included.

What kinds of surprises did you have regarding Microvellum? What components did you need that were not included?

We are looking at a package with: OEM Microvellum Toolbox V6 AutoCAD, Face Frame Modular Casework Library V6, Nesting Bundle 2- Without True Shape Nesting (mv- Bundle), ALIS V6 (Automated Integration Software),Entry Level 4-Day Classroom Training, and First Year CNC enabled Support Contract.

Not sure that we can comment that here. Hopefully Justin and the other guys will let us. I mean I love thermwood machines but we thought that we need more complete software when we picked microvellum.

Surprise was really the complexity of the program and the guy that trained us. A briliant guy but with no idea how to put it in a easy to understand way. The rest is just effort from your side to integrate the software in your production.

One thing missing and what they wanted to charge us for is the dovetail drawer box. They say it's there but the fact is you have to program it yourself and that's pretty hard.

Hi Steve,

We do not have a "direct link" with Microvellum so they will need to create a post for your machine, or you can take DXF files from Microvellum and bring that into Control Nesting to nest and write the code for the machine.
