Portable Ecabinet...

With the size of memory sticks now a day, did anybody try to run ecabinet out of one? Is it at all possible? If it was possible can you see the possibilities? Taking the program from one computer to another...
It's probably just a silly idea...

Not so silly. I am looking to upgrade my machine to an SSD (Solid State Drive). They are now available up to 63G in size and should speed lots of things up including the operating system and programs. Similar to what you are suggesting but more robust.

I Think the best thing to do would be,
Have Ecabs on each computer but have everything that the program saves save to your memory card/USB stick. So that your when you save a job or cabinet or a material it saves it to the card/stick instead of some were in the Ecabs directory. I think this would work well except a few things to think about. If you misplace the card everything is gone unless you make back ups and keep them up to date. I think it would be best to set up some kind of back up system that automatically adds any file missing from either drive every 10 mins or so. so that you can go from one computer to another with out Having to have the stick but then when you do plug it in it automatically syncs the files. other wise you would need the stick everytime you use Ecabs at any computer. Get a keychain USB Stick.

I think read write speed might be an issue through a USB hub also. This might be pretty slow.
