Ecabinets and Windows 7 not working

Post by Ray Sasser »

Followed instructons in pdf, and not working. The install appears to be installing like you would expect, but when it finishes there is no ecabinets icon. There are no error messages that i see. I did a search for ecabinets.exe and there is none anywhere. One of the instructions that I could not do in the pdf was to turn off avg. I knew how to do this in xp and vista but not in w7. I never have to turn this off for any other installs so I am not sure how critical this is. Also the first time i did the install i did not do it as an administrator. Not sure if that somehow screwed it up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ray

Well, on my system I can access ecabs by selecting the Windows Start button, then All Programs and then scrolling down to the Thermwood/ecabinet systems directory. I can then just click on ecabinet systems to run it. Problem is that I'm running ecabs Version 6.

I would suggest that you try the install again as an administrator.

Thanks Joe, I dont have that folder in my start menu and I did a search on the exe file. If I understand the install as administrator all I do is go to the downloaded program and right click and run as administrator, which is what i did. It acted like it was installing but never installed and I never got an error message.

With version 5.2 you must install and run as administrator for Vista or Windows 7. Version 6 does not have this requirement (at least in beta).

I think the best way to get beyond your problem is to become a beta tester. 8)

You will need to talk to the Thermwood folks about becoming a beta tester. Call them on Monday.
