Error 1320. The specified path is too long

Post by Dale Wills »

Tried updating e-Cabs last night and I couldn't get it to install. I thought it was installing (it was taking ages) so I left the computer. Came back and realised that the install had not worked. Tried again today and got a new error message saying 'error 1320. The specified path is too long'. I had ran the update as administator. Now I can't access e-cabs at all. It appears my e-cab icon has been rendered no good now and I can find another icon the launch the program. WTF

Dale,

Hopefully we can figure out what is wrong here quickly, but I am going to need some additional information.

Can you post the information from your event log. Here are some instructions:
You will have to open the event viewer to get the error message. the easiest way to do this is to select Start, then RUN. Type eventvwr.msc and press ENTER. Under Windows Logs, select Application, and then find the 'X' that details the problem.

You should be able to highlight the text in this window and then press <ctrl><C> to copy the text. Paste this into your post for our review.
A more detailed option, if you are savvy enough with computers, is to create an installation log as follows:

Start->RUN, cmd.exe (This should open a command prompt located in the user directory)
Type the following command in this window:

  • cd desktop
    V6Build1Setup1h.exe /V"/L*v v6install_log.txt

This will run the installation and create a text file that can be sent back to us for review.

Ryan,
I have done this and have actually saved the installion log and attached it. The log was massive.
