I seem to be a perpetual newbie... Now V6!!
I had a matching cabinet door and drawer front design for a project that I am working on for a White painted kitchen.
When I went to V6, the old computer just couldn't cut the mustard, so I installed V6 on a Dual core Pentium Toshiba Laptop with 3G memory. I downgraded it from Vista to XP SP3 so it would have a ghost of a chance (not easy, Toshiba doesn't supply drivers, you have to download them from the component manufactures websites).
This system actually is pretty quick with eCabs 6.
I attempted to transfer my projects and settings to the new computer: first thing I tried was to copy the Program Files\Thermwood directory structure to the new box before I installed V6. V6 did not like this; it "Failed to Initialize" with an error 0xC0000005... Then I deleted this directory on the laptop and installed V6 and eCabinets worked OK - so I then copied what I thought was my projects and settings into the same directory structures on the laptop.
Now, when I open up the existing White Kitchen project on the laptop (originally created in V5 on the old computer) the cabinets have drawers and doors that are the right style, but the wrong texture (I used an Alpine sheen texture for the white paint). Also, I can't seem to add my used-to-be default drawer front or door to any cabinet. Or find it anywhere, for that matter....
BTW, the old computer underwent an upgrade from V5 to V6 and it doesn't have this problem - only the slows....
On the old computer, I upgraded the V5 to V6 and did not have this problem.
I guess I need to know how to transfer the default drawers and door fronts from the old computer to the laptop.

Re: Doors and Drawer fronts from V5 to V6
OK I sort of figured some of this out...
What was really getting me was that I was unaware of the fact that eCabinet can't see directories more than 1 level deep in the directories in "All Users\Shared..." where it stores what you save.
So for instance (in my case) the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\cabinets" can have subdirectories (in my case "cabinets", "My Cabinets", "Standard Cabinets", etc.) - if you make subdirectories inside these directories, eCabs can't browse to them..
Am I right about this?

Rob,
The fact that eCabinets can't see more than one directory deep is a known problem. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next build.
It sure is a problem until then.

Are you sure about this? I have not heard of any bug of the sort. The one directory deep problem was a limitation in pre-v6. However, V6 now can see and browse to multi level deep subdirectories under the cabinets directory. The only case were this may not be true in is the door/drawer designer, as it is not using the new item window.

Re: Doors and Drawer fronts from V5 to V6
Rick,
I got this from THIS THREAD where you place a cabinet (from a source two directories deep) into batch, then take that cabinet from batch into the Cabinet Editor and try to save it from there, eCabinets is only looking one directory deep so the cabinet is not saved to the original directory it was loaded from.
I just tried this and it is still broken.
Ryan was able to reproduce this at the time of the original thread.
Sorry for any confusion.

Ok. Yall were talking about not be able to load which it can. There is the problem with the saving, but that was not what he was talking about in this thread.

Re: Doors and Drawer fronts from V5 to V6
I really had two issues when I submitted this post. First, I tried to put cabs in the structure inside the Thermwood dir under c:\Program Files.
I've since discovered C:\documents and settings\all users......
Next, I tried to put folders under the cabinets directory in this new "All Users" structure. I'm going to check this again, but I don't think I can browse more than 1 level deep inside this directory when trying to choose cabinets using the new pop-in menu (right hand side) from inside of the Cabinet Editor.
I thought the same was true for doors, as well...
But I've had a couple of things wrong lately so I will check again later tonight (can't do it now)...
