Putting a 45 on cabinet parts with the part editor is easy. After doing that how does one go about telling the machine to pick up a 45 bit with in the nest? Can it be done?
But I wondering if there would be a way in the profile modeler (or any other way) to set up the 45 bit and have it make the cut one pass right in the nesting process.
I've written a program also that would do it against a fixture offset - just wanting to avoid an additional setup.
I don't know, we went through this when we first got the machine and it always tried to model the 45 with a compression bit doing it in 3 steps we could never get it to grab the 45 deg Amana bit, not to mention the extra part clearance you would need for this bit to get in and work. As often as we need 45 degree cuts the small program has worked out fairly well.
You do have the option to place customized cuts on panel through eCab part editor, then in control nesting you can use the MDF Door Tool Option in SETTINGS to pull from the default tool group that is setup in the Profile Modeler.

Would we make the Profile in the MDF door part rather than part editor? I've looked at the profile modeler help at the controler and can find nothing that leads me anywhere.
Actually, I was a bit off on the default tool group being used for the profile, this is only if modeling will take place. You should be able to select the EXTERIOR tool, under the MDF Tool Option in control nesting, to perform the profile cut you created in eCab part editor. If setup correctly in part editor, the profile cut will then be cut on centerline of tool. To ensure this occurs, you simply use the tool in part editor on centerline without applying an offset right or left.
If you go to the control nesting user manual, you can read under 2nd to last topic "Profiling & MDF Doors/Drawer Fronts" for some good information regarding this topic. I can then continue to help as needed.
The most simple is as follows Use a DXF file and control nesting
All you have to do is set up a tool in tool setup, specify 1/16 diameter or any diameter as long as it is different than all the other tools you have set up in your in your tool changer
Then you create a DXF file
Create an outline layer and a centerline layer
draw a centerline where you want the cut located then
Name this centerline layer CENTERLINE Z#p## D0p0625

I think you have the D and Z backwards....although..Come to think of it, it may not matter since I've never tried it, but I always use the bit diameter first, then the Z depth, as in "centerline d1p0 z0p725" as an example.
