Unable to resize modified 45 degree unit

Post by Mark McCallum »

Hi guys
This is a 45 degree cabinet. I have applied some constraints in the part editor and added an end from another to make it into an assembly.
I should be able to resize the unit and realign the end. But it keeps saying error in creating cut path data. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Its made to suit Blum 45degree CNR hinges
Thanks

Mark,

Here is the cabinet redone and should re-size for you (I tried several diff. sizes and it works for me). What I did was removed all your PE cuts and added them back using the chamfer option. BUT, I never chamfered it all the way to the exact corner of the part (in fact, the option will not let you do this). I left about .005" (for example, the top stretcher is 1.5748" wide, so I chamfered it using 1.570). This keeps the PE cut point away from the RAW point of the part (by a very minuscule amount). Parasolid can be finicky when the points coincide, so keep that in mind when doing this type of cuts. Now, you probably used geometry from the Contour mode to get it to come out exactly at the raw corner like you had here. Next time, you can do this but leave yourself a small amount and it should work fine as well.

Hi Scott
Thank you very much. That’s fantastic!
It just shows you how good this program is if you put the time in and know what you are doing.
I had put a formula into the parts editor Height=width to do the shelves and back rail. I was thinking this would have taken care of a depth change and kept it at 45deg regardless. Still for a standard depth cabinet it’s great.
I will practice more with the parts editor so that I can get the hang of it.
I appreciate you taking the time to sort it out for me.
