Sink cutout

Post by Neville Bastian »

This question may have already been asked somewhere so forward me to that thread.
Simply we need to cut a sink hole out of 38mm thick material.
Due to the tool strain we do this in 2 or 3 passes. When we do this it automatically removes the guts of the cut-out creating a lot of waste and removal of dust by the dust extractor difficult.
When we do it in one pass it does the same thing. We must have a setting wrong somewhere.

If we are cutting a 16mm or 18mm thickness part it will cut the outline and not remove the waste. We have checked our settings and can't understand why there is a difference when only the material thickness changes?
Thanks for your help

Regards

Neville,

The setting that determines if a pocket is milled out or simply cut at the perimeter is determined by the Pocket Area (Through Cuts) value in SETTINGS. Depth of cut should be determined by the Max Penetration value of given tool. If you continue to have issues and have checked these settings, please send a copy of your EXPORT file to program@thermwood.com for review.

Thanks!

Hi Ryan,
We have gone over the suggestions and have the same result. I'll send you the export file next week. We must be missing something our end.

Control Nesting will pocket the entire area for a through cut pocket if the pocket size is smaller than the area specified for setting: Pocket Area (Through Cuts). This setting defaults to a value that is equivelant to a 4"x4" pocket.
