Door/ Drawer Opening Problem

Post by JohnLashuay »

I am attaching a cabinet and jpg of it that shows the problem. I have created a cabinet with fixed shelves and a middle partition, but when I take the cabinet to the drawer box editor or door/drawer editor it does not seem to recognize anything but the left and right ends. Can someone take a look at this and see if what is happening to me is real or just me?

Thanks,
-John

John,

I think it is because your partition is recessed behind the end panels so itwon't define an opening. It must be flush with the end panels.

John,

I removed your part editor cuts and then it worked correctly. I then added them back to the cab and it still is working correctly. I have attached the cab for you to use or review. Can you remember the steps you took to get it to this state? If so, any clues may help me reproduce it.

Hi Kerry!

I don't remember putting in a front inset, just bottom and back insets. I did however remove the tapered part editor cuts that I had on the bottom of the panels and it showed the openings just fine. I then when back in after I had the drawers and doors on and tapered the panels in PE and it seems to be working correctly. Could this be a bug?

Hi Scott!

Thanks for the reply! I only remember giving the (-) insets to the panels and then cutting them once all the shelves were in place before I added the drawers and doors.

I'll try a test and let you know what I find out.

I was able to reproduce the problem but it didn't occur until I added adjustable shelves.

1. Standard Cabinet
2. Remove back, top, deck & TK notch
3. add PE cuts to ends
-checked to see if the prob occurred...no
4. Add fixed shelves & single partition in Shelf/ Partition Editor
-checked to see if the prob occurred...no
5. Add stretchers as backers
-checked to see if the prob occured...no
6. Add adj shelves
-problem occurs
I thought I was losing my mind for a minute there...not that finding this means that I am not losing it!! :?

I just removed the 1/16" front inset on the partition and everything worked fine. I didn't mess with any of the part editor cuts.

Hi Kerry!

That partition was not supposed to have any front insets. I looked at my original and didn't find any so I added one in and then took it to the door editor and came back and removed and like you said it works fine. I don't get it!

Did you by any chance follow the steps that I show above to see if you get the same results?

Thanks,
-John
