Greetings all,
I found what I consider to be a bug, but I'm interested in hearing other thoughts on the matter:
Take a cabinet back that is 20x20 and enter it into the batch.
On the way, change the size to 15x15
Then change the item name to Room1 Panel1
Now that we're done with room 1, it's time to do room 2.
Here's the issue.
Room 2 has a panel the same size as room 1, but I want it labelled properly so the client knows how to sort the panels.
Enter that cabinet back into the batch again, and change the size to 15x15.
Instead of showing up as 'cabinet back' with a quantity of 1, you will notice that the quantity of the first item, 'Room1 Panel1' has been changed magically.
It is my belief that if the item name in the batch was changed after it was entered, then it should be unique regardless of it's size.
Unfortunately there is no way that I'm aware of to get this 'not to happen' on other words, I don't know how to enter another item in at the same size as a different batch item with a different name, other than making every panel in the cabinet editor and saving them all, then adding to the batch. I consider this to be a cumbersome work-around and it completely murders the efficiency of the batch list.
Does anyone agree this is a bug, or is there another way to do this that I haven't thought of?

Re: Batch item entry bug
Just quickly glancing at your post, I come up with this issue often, and it didn't happen in earlier versions. What i do, is click on the item in the batch to take it into the part editor, and then take it back to the batch and it asks me if i want to save changes to the batch i press yes, and then in the batch settings box that pops up, click on the button that says add as new item and rename it from there. Another thing i will do is if i have multiple parts that are the same size i will open them and change the size by 1/100th of a mm, so item 1 might be say 2000x2000 and item 2 will be 2000.01x2000.

Re: Batch item entry bug
That's true Jason, I did not experience this in earlier versions either - I didn't mention that. I wonder if that qualifies the issue as a bug...?
There are indeed many cumbersome ways around it, I just think it defeats the purpose of having such a nice and powerful batch entry system. I am very excited about the new changes and additional capabilities that were added to the batch area of the software, but this issue seems like it came with the new package.
While on the subject, I know there was some talk about the ability to change the item name on it's way into the batch, i.e. in the same dialog where the size and quantity is changed, but that seemed simple to simpletons like me, though it entailed quite a lot of behind the scenes work to make it happen. Maybe the two could be fixed up together eventually?
