LDE Output to CAD

I found a thread on this subject from about 2006. I was wondering if a way has been implemented yet in V6 to output a cabinet LDE drawing so it can be manipulated in a CAD program. Thanks!

Short answer - nope. Hopefully in the future though!

I'm taking the cabinet into LDE and getting the outside dimensions. I then draw a similar outline in my CAD program to the same dimensions. Guess it's fairly close.....

In a future release (after performance enhancements are done) this would be a nice feature. At least export as a DXF that can be imported into CAD.

The problem has always been the fact if the LDE can export in .dxf format then the drawings can be used by most CNC to cut parts. There was talk about this several times but I don't remember how it all turned out.

You're right Kerry. I hadn't thought it thru to that point. The way I'm working it seems to work well enough. Just create all the measurements in LDE then create the same thing in CAD using those LDE measurements.

Time consuming but it does protect Thermwood and that is very important!

Hi Don,
If you have it drawn in part editor, you can send that to machine, why would you want to take it into cad and redraw it?
Just curious, I am sure their are situations why you might need this.
I am aware that cad can be easier to draw odd things in than the part editor, but drawing in ecabs and then taking to cad seems different.

In particular I wanted to take a corner cabinet into my CAD program so I could design the corner drawers for it taking in to account slide spacing, etc. So I needed the cabinet looking down on the top of it without the top stretchers blocking my view. That's what I was trying to do. Got 'r done.
