Toekick Height

Post by Leo Graywacz »

Can someone tell me why Thermwood chose a 5" high toekice for the cabinets? Seems awful high and I've asked around and no-one that I know makes a toekick that high. Seems 4" is closer to the standard.

Leo,

This probably isn't the answer but when I made my visit to Thermwood a few years back, Ken Susnjara told me that when they first started eCabinets they realized that they knew a great deal about writing software but knew very little about cabinet making. That is why they rely so much on input from members regarding the software. ( and may be the reason for a 5" kick)

Actually, that explains it quite well. I have a good amount of FF seed cabinets but very few Euro cabinets. Everytime I go in there and make a cabinet I forget about that 5" kick and end up having to go through an entire kitchen reducing the kicks and resizing all the drawer fronts that it impacts. Makes for a long day. :wall:

You could always go through the Standard Directory of Cabinets and make the change to the toe kick and resave in a new directory (Standard Seed 4 in toe, Standard Seed No toe, etc.).
