Locking stretcher position

Post by Jon Dieterlen »

I have a seed cabinet upper with a stretcher at the top rear for a screw rail for attaching to the wall. I have it locked in position at the top inside below the the top. When I resize the height, the stetcher remains locked at the correct vertical position, but the width of the stretcher increases by the amount of the increased cabinet height. This has not been an issue as far as I know in the past..

Jon,

Post your cabinet and I will bet we can find what is wrong.
It sounds like the stretcher is locked on the bottom as well as the top so it tries to stay the same distance from the bottom as it moves with the height of the cabinet.

The problem seems to have solved itself. I have been busy installing and just got back to some design work, and the cabinet seems to be OK now.

I also thought the stretcher may be locked to the top and bottom, but I checked and that wasn't the case.

It seems as if it is just one of those strange things that go away after shutting down the software.

Actually the problem isn't solved. I have an up and down oriented stretcher used as a screw rail located just below the top and inside the back. It is locked 1 1/2" from the top, and 1/4" from the back of the ends. When the cabinet is resized in the cabinet editor, it works fine, but when it is resized when bringing it into a room, the stretcher increases in height by the amount that the cabinet is increased in height.

I tried deleting the stretcher, saving the cabinet, then adding the strtcher back, and the problem persists. All my upper cabinets are behaving the same way.

Jon.

I just tried your cabinet on two different computers and the stretcher works fine. I changed the height from 30" to 40" and the stretcher remains 1 3/4"

I will play with it some more.

Did you try resizing as you bring it into a room, or in the CE. CE works fine, room lay out doesn't. I created 2 cabinets, one 1 door, and 1- 2 door. Both had the same issue. It even got smaller when the cabinet was resized to a smaller size.

I have since just eliminated the stretcher. But if It add it back, the problem is still there. Maybe if I make a new seed, it will be fixed?

I just created a new seed cabinet w/ a stretcher for a screw rail, and it still changes wdth when changing the cabinet height when brining it into a room.
