Post by Josh Rayburn »

Open job, zoom in under desk and note arched drawer face (display panel with part editor cut)
select all cabinets in room, change sheet stock
part editor cut gone on display panel, no error message or warning :(

After you apply your cut and return to the main menu Can you take the part back into the PE .
In my experience how you created the dxf file and the file size is critical to successful PE and profile modeler work
It appears to me that these Dxf files contain extra information that is unnecessary for PE and PM
Call me at 810 310 1111 if needed

I see your issue Josh. For now, a warning has been added. It will tell you that the panel contains PE cuts and ask if you still want to replace the material and lose the cuts.

thanks will, the job was actually sent to me from a customer, so I have no idea how he applied them to begin with. I do know that he does not have a CAD program however, so I suspect that he did the work in the contour editor. anyhow, it's all set now!
thanks again,

If you get this case again, you can take the cabinet to the Cabinet Editor, take the panel to the the part editor. Enter in the contour mode, right click, and create edges. Then you can save off the edges as a x_t file. Once you change the material, you can go back to the part editor, load the x_t file, and recreate the part using the saved edges.

Yes, that's true Rick, thanks. In the future I will keep a closer eye on part editor work to display panel though I hope the issue will be resolved anyhow. Unfortunately I only CNC parts for other cabinet shops, I don't assemble at all - so I only know about it when the customer calls and says "what happened to that drawer face with the arched bottom?" :(
I also would have been alerted to the problem if there was an error message, so that will be helpful to have in the future even if the issue is not resolved.
Anyhow, thanks again,

Maybe you can get your customers to alert you when the job contains Part Editor cuts...nah, they would still probably blame you for missing cuts even if they forgot to alert you.

lol, you're right about that Dan, and even if they didn't blame me I'd still make it right....no matter how annoying it might be! :D
But now I do ask, and when they say YES I have something to look for!
