Filtering nest by material

I know this has been discussed several times in the past, but bear with me.

I have a job that consists of two materials--let's call them material A and material B.

Material A nests best (using cut line) horizontally and material B nests best vertically. If I could filter the nest by material (instead of just parts) I could get the best yield for both materials.

Any chance of implementing this in the near future? PLEEZE???

Hi Dan,
I agree it would be helpful to have that feature, but most of the time I'll just nest the job in Control Nesting and print the sheets from there since the feature is available at the control. I do have to wait for machining cycles to complete and find a hole in between jobs to do it, but in general I think it would be nice if both modules (CN and Ecabs) matched.

And vice versa if we can get a filter by parts at the controller that would be great. For most of my cabinets the drawer bottoms and the cabinet backs are the same material. If the drawer bottoms help fill up the nest with larger backs I will include them if not I nest separate in cheaper raw material.

I agree with that too, Forrest. Would be nice for both to be on the same page.
In fact, if the dialog for both was more like the "change sheet stock" dialog, that would be especially cool. I think that's the best, most flexible and powerful, well-thought-out dialog in the entire Thermwood conglomeration of software!

This can be done in Control Nesting. You can select one material and nest it, then you would have to come back and select the other material and nest it.

Since you are posting this in the Ecab area I assume you want to see this in the nesting for Ecab. Can I ask why? Just curious!

See above--one material gets a better yield in horizontal and the other in vertical. Yep, eCabinets nesting...no CNC here.

I would love to see that feature also. I often use a material that is for show only and does not require to be nested. It would be nice to see material in the filter area instead of just the parts and be able to nest by material.
