Constraint Prompt in Batch Editor

Post by JohnLashuay »

A prompt comes up when the size of a part is changed that states, "one or more constraints had to be removed..." I understand the necessity of when the size is changed, but this also comes up when we are changing the sheet stock in the batch editor for each part with constraints that had a size changed. It this necessary? It slows down our process quite a bit because we use so many parts that have constraints attached to them.

Thanks,
-John

John,

I will gladly look into it if you get me the cabinet and the steps you take.

Hi Scott!

Here is a cabinet back that we use as a vertical panel. It has a full 32mm line bore in which each hole is constrained.

1. Take this cabinet and open it into batch editor:
2. Change height to 22"
3. shows prompt for some constraints that have been removed -> OK

Change Sheet Stock to another material and you will be prompted again regarding the constraints.

Thanks,
-John

John,

Thanks for getting me the file and steps. I believe that the message after changing the sheet stock material is not necessary and should be able to be eliminated. I will list it for the programmers to look into. Thanks again...

Scott / John,
I've seen this message a few times myself - but I always assumed that there was a problem and I constrained something wrong. I never actually checked to see if they were still there.
From the sound of the post, is seems like maybe the constraints are really not lost after all? Does the message actually spell doom?
Thanks,
jnr

Josh,

John has some unique/special parts set up that truly lose constraints when re-sized. It is not a problem in his case, because the holes that the constraints are linked to disappear, thus the constraints must be tossed. The only issue is the redundant message when he changes the sheet stock afterward. The next time the sheet stock is changed, the message does not appear.
