Recent files open list

The recent file list that you see when you click on the FILES (pull down menu). It seems to update when you close the program down. So if you have a crash the files you have saved don't show up on the list. Not really an earth shattering problem, but it is annoying, especially since I have been having a lot of program crashes lately. Is there a way this list can be updated when the file is saved instead of when the program is exited? 8)
