Help with DXF

Hi Brian. Here is the DXF. I looked at the letters close up and I can see why they are machining rough. All the curves are made up of small segmens instead of arcs, this would not be so bad if they flowed into each other but in this case they zig zag along. In a nutshell the letters need to be completely regenerated.

The best result would come from tracing over the logo with lines and arcs to create a dxf file then name layers and send to control nesting.

Or if I knew what the font was i can regenerate the letters with my CAD program which should give a better result

I tried last night to search and find out the font. I got close but not exact. I was going to start over with a small text program that will create G code or a .dxf file. Still searching...

That is perfect! Thanks so much George. I was able to cut it in Part Editor so I don't know why it shouldn't cut on the Thermwood. I'll try it in the morning!

When you take it to your machine do you use the eas. or use the DXF to cut it out?

check out this link. You can download an eps file that is already vectorized and just open it in Corel or some other program and convert it to dxf. It will be very clean.

I started with a .eps file and converted it in BobCad but had troubles. I am having some success with Georges .dxf files taken into PE on a display panel, then creating a .twd file to take to CN. I did cut a good sample with an 1/8" bit into Melamine. Now I get to try it on solid Maple. Baby steps...I will post a picture of the finished product. Thanks guys!

Hey Guys!

I finally got my sign done. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to help me out. I was able to cut in one pass with a very sharp 1/8" bit. The sign is solid Maple. The letters will be painted black and face is to be stained a cherry color. Thanks again all! You're the best!
