Flip Operations cutting back dados 3/8" off from specified

Post by Jason Wilson »

I am having a problem here where the Flip Operations first feature not working properly.

It cuts the dados fpr the flip first, I flip the sheet, it cuts the front dados and outline but when the part is complete the dados are off by 3/8"

Has anyone experienced this ?

How did you fix it ?

We are running on Windows 2000, build 3, Control Nesting update 5.59

Thank you

Jason,

Please verify that your fixture offset locations used in control nesting are set correctly. Locate a sheet of material in the fence location that you use to call the regular sheet cuts and find the x and y value for that corner. THen repeat this process for the flip operation fence. Compare these values to the values you have stored in the machine to see if they are the same.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for replying to my post.
I actually was able to get the manual flip operations down fine after I made my second post but the "Flip Ops First" feature still is cutting the back dados way off.

Would you still go through the same steps that you described in your post ?

Thanks again

Hi Jason,

If you will email us your supporting files, we will have a closer look at your situation and reply with greater details. We will need a copy of the following:

- EXPORT file from Control Nesting
- .CNC file created when Writing CNC
- design file (.hsf, .esa or .esj)

email to: program@thermwood.com

Also, please explain more specifically which direction and by how much your dados are off.

Thanks!

Hello Ryan,

Thank you so much.

I will gather this information and e-mail it to you shortly.

Question though:
I have not yet exported files to Thermwood.

How would I access the Design Files you specified ?

Thanks

To create an EXPORT file: Select the NEST option in Control Nesting, to nest your loaded job, then choose the EXPORT button at bottom right of screen. This will create zipped file on your PC that you need to attach to email and send.

.CNC file location: This is typically - D:\DATA\Rolling_Nest\CNC-FILES, however you will need to look in SETTINGS, CNC FILE PATH on your control to see what this is set for

eCabinet Design files: will be located on your PC under C:\Users\Public\Documents\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems, then specific directory (Cabinets, Assemblies or if a .esj, job file any place on your PC that you've selected).

Ok,
I just emailed some files to your department.

I did not send the Export file but I will be sending that now.

Thanks again

Let me know what you find.

Jason,

I just sent you an email. I will re-state what it says here. I would like you to verify the location of your G901 fence offset and compare it to the values stored in the M999 macro. I'm not seeing anything in the file that would cause the machine to be 3/8 inch off on both axis.

As a note: be sure to account for tool radius when finding your G901 fence location.

Hello,
After Remeasuring our fences and comparing it to the figures stored in M999 settings, I have discovered an apparent discrepancy.
The 901s were off by just about .25 on each axis.

I have since updated this information in our system

I then loaded a single part with a "Flip First" operation and it came out beautifully.

Once again, thank you to the team at Thermwood for your prompt assistance with this matter.
