Iv'e run into a problem involving the layer names in my dxf file(s). It seems that the R12 DXF only supports up to 26 characters in the layer names in the file. I have exceeded that amount and it seems to be causing a CN error where it thinks the thickness required is 0.000. Has anyone else run into (and solved) this problem? Are there some syntax shortcuts that I could use to shorten the layer name that the control would still recognize? It looks like I'd have to hold my layer dimensions to only 1 or 2 digits to get this to work, and it could get tooling confused that has been resharpened when the tool calls are executed.

Are you using the (relatively new) Tool Names to call the tools, or are you specifying the diameter in the layer name? This not only will save you a few characters, it also saves the headache of picking up the wrong tool because it is the same diameter as the tool you intended to pick up.
In case, I've attached a screenshot showing layer names with Tool Names in them. They're encased in brackets, e.g. [3185].

"new?" My Manual is from last year and yes we call out the diameter of the tooling in the layer name. Is there a better way?
Do you have a template file (like DXFLAYERS.dxf) that you could share, or is available somewhere? I'm using the one from the helpful files folder provided in the training when i went to Dale, IN.
