I'm having trouble getting some DXF files to work properly, and I've narrowed it down to the fact that CN is apparently seeing NEARLY coincident lines on separate layers as duplicates. They are separated by .01mm, so yeah, they're close, but I would think in the computer world, .01mm may as well be 1 mile. It either is, or is not, in the exact same location. At any rate, does anyone know what the tolerance is, and at what point CN stops seeing these entities as "duplicate"?
Just to clarify, what I basically need is two tools to follow the same line. Knowing there can't be duplicate entities, I separated the lines by .01mm. The lines are on separate layers. Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve to accomplish this? It's a very common occurrence. I could make one a Centerline, and another one a Chaincompin, but then I lose the ability to have the machine apply radius comp.
Well, 0.01mm is just under 0.0004". Perhaps you can try 0.03mm which would would result in an approximately 0.0012" "shift" - something that Control Nesting (CN) may better differentiate AND is really not that much of a variance when machining.
I changed it to .1mm and it works, so it is somewhere between .01 and .1mm. One of these days I'll figure out the exact number, but in this instance I was able to work around it. .1mm is certainly not critical on the MDF doors this is for, but on some things, .1mm isn't an acceptable variance. I'll attach the DXF. (change from TXT to DXF of course)
Glad you were able to accomplish a work around. The tolerance in metric is 0.0254. You bring up a valid argument. We will work on getting the duplicate elimination to be layer specific.
