Hi carmen.
It is mainly presentation. The first screen shot shows 3 windows. All with no cut outs. The third window has an image applied to it. You can use custom images of your own.
The second screen shot is with cut outs along with some lights. Notice the lights behind the wall and how they shine through as well as the lights in front of the wall. This was just a quick example but with some practice you can create a very impressive presentation this way. Doors can be done the same way. You can make the opening then have the door open to allow light to pass through.
Something else you might want to try. I created some upper cabinets styled to look like windows. You can be as detailed as you want. The reason was that once I placed the window I can then place a sink base underneath it and use the Re-size/equalize feature to center the sink perfectly under that window. You can also re-size these windows after they have been placed in the room. They are created using "Do Not Cut" materials to keep them off the cut list.
