pilot holes
is there a way the we can just have pilot holes for the back?  We use modified kd/rta fasteners for our dowel construction and then adjust for the pilot holes in the back. It seems like it would be possible just to add pilot holes and remove the lock dado portion of the back construction.

If I'm understanding you correctly .
We use the KDA RTA settings for the back with a hardware hole pattern as in the picture below.
