If you add drawers via the DBX button at the top, do you think this causes more instability than adding them with drawer fronts via the door drawer editor?

Odd drawer bank behavior,

Post by Mark McCallum »

Hi Guys
Running a poll just to see If I am a "special" :D case or others have similar experiences.
If you have any insights or cabinets that could help. please post them below.

Maybe these cabinets could provide a clue.

1] I don’t have a drawer without dados but these drawers are missing them.
2} In the drawer door editor, Press drawer box selection. I check the default drawer it has lost the part editor cut outs and KD holes.
3} I reselect our normal default box, set default.
4] Reapply with the same settings.
5] Go back to the main, the dados are there but the KD holes are missing.
6] Go back to door drawer editor, check the default drawer, it has lost the KD holes

In the attached drawer box
I have selected lock dado, applied holes and hardware and saved it as library drawer box.
Upon reloading the holes have disappeared even thought they are still registered.

(If you get an advisory message about small radiuses, its the dovetail corner radius at 3mm, (1/8" =3.18mm , don't ask me how come its set like that, I never use or touch dovetails. perhaps I went to sleep and when my head hit the keyboard and it changed)

I have tried to set the holes and hardware as default but I cant remember how to do it for drawer boxes.
This is a picture of a seed drawer box where I am trying to set the defaults.
How to set default hardware and holes.jpg
For cabinets I set defaults via the blue KDA RTA button in the right column in the cabinet / assembly area.

Any insights appreciated :D
Thanks
Mark

Okay.
Perhaps I have tracked down one issue.
In the attached video I take a seed drawer and change it to Lock dado, save and reload it.
upon reloading the KD blue indicators have disappeared.

I then simplified the test to
1) open the drawer box designer
2) load ecabs std drawer.
4) open construction settings,
4) select global settings.
5) under construction select Lock dado, OK,
6) Appraise drawer box in the drawer box main window
7) open construction settings again
8) select left side construction settings.
9) select Button bottom of screen, select KD/RTA
10) Top right select all
11) select hole pattern, hit apply
12 return to drawer box main screen, appraise drawer box and verify.
13) save to Personal drawer box folder
14) Drawer box still looks good. Reopen just saved drawer box.
!5) upon reopening the blue KD hole indicators have disappeared.

I notice after exiting back to the main screen and then re entering the drawer box editor and opening some of the test drawers, some are still missing the blue indicators and some have re found them.

Thanks

Hi Guys

So on further playing around with this, I have noticed that it is the visibility settings that are changing.
In the cabinet assembly editor if you right click mouse and select visibility and then which items you wish to have shown , lines, operations hole patterns etcetera.
In the drawer editor upon reloading the drawer box the visibility settings are changing when the box gets loaded (unlike the cabinet assembly editor where once you choose you settings they stay stuck.
So sometimes the hole patterns are ticked to show and the next time its loaded it unticks itself.

So while I wouldn’t expect it to be the major cause, It does reflect the changing behaviour of fix one thing and then it rotates to break the next thing. Like you fix the edging then it flips the holes or something.

Thanks
Mark
