This is a minor issue but is a bit annoying is that when you load a program on the Thermwood it seems to shut down the internet access then it comes back available again. Its a bit of a pain if your using voip or streaming audio which we do. This requires restarting the audio program.
Some may wonder why we use streaming audio, it is because the Thermwood seams to destroy radio reception in our metal shed. The streaming audio is advert free and download free so everyone is more contented.
Is there any filter I need to fit to the network? Is there a reason its accessing the internet. I thought it may have to do with the hiring of the carving programs which isn't now happening.
Regards
Neville

Re: Program running interupts internet
Neville,
Are you playing the streaming audio on the Thermwood controller? Or is it playing on another computer but the load operation at the control seems to interrupt the internet connection for the other "stream-playing" computer?
When you refer to "loading" are you referring to: A) TWDs into Control Nesting? or B) NC/CNC programs into the program execution section of the THM?
Where are you "loading" from? A) From the local controller disk drive (D:\data\...) or B) A USB drive or C) A network path/resource
This information could help...

Re: Program running interupts internet
Hi Brad,
Yes I was a bit "blonde" with the question.
The streaming audio is on another networked computer in the workshop that we use for time cost collection. We toggle between that operation and winamp
The loading of the program is at the Thermwood computer and it shuts down the whole network not just the streaming audio computer. This requires a restart to the play function on Winamp
We are loading TWD's into control nesting not autocad type files.
The TWD's are in the data subdirectory on the Thermwood itself not the office Ecabinets computer.
I guess what I should do to make sure this is the case is unplug the network cable before we load a TWD.
Thanks for your interest Brad.
Regards
Neville

Re: Program running interupts internet
Neville, we stream from internode all the time over a network and have never had a problem with any drop outs when using the controller or sending TWD,s all hooked up on the same network. We use WMP not winamp, not that that should make a difference.

Re: Program running interupts internet
Hi Jason,
That's a great reply as internode is our ISP also. We use winamp but it has got a bit bloated with video playing as well. I'll try your player and see how we go. I am also looking at upgrading the computer. Maybe the age of the current machine could be a problem. I might also do a fresh install of windows as its been a hammered gaming machine.
