Hardware & material files for two computers

I wonder if anyone has worked out the file structure on the way Ecabinets keeps the material changes, Hardware setup and costing files. From past posts it has been suggested you just do a backup on the Ecabinet system then restore onto another laptop or desktop.
I have two main people using ecabinets and have been using a program called drop box which is able copy newly created files or modified files on the detailer computer onto their site then copy them back to the quoting presentation computer when it is online. This works the other way round with files created or modified on the quoting/presentation computer uploaded to the detailer computer. If I new what files were created or changed I could copy those around. I just can't seem to get Ecabinets to update this data. I have no trouble with jobs and assemblies.

Doing a full backup is not really that seamless. I have to make sure my changes as the quote computer is transferred to the detailer's computer .Then make sure his changes are backed up and restored on mine.

If someone was working from home this would be handy to have a mirror copy of Ecabinets that was updated in the background. If the work computer was stolen or had a head crash you would have a computer that could be transferred to the workplace straight away that had yesterdays work listed.

Hopefully someone can offer some help.

The directory paths for the old and new versions were posted early in other posts. I had gathered those and placed them in a PDF for our staff and clients. I have attached it here.

I am not sure if this is what you were looking for, but... If not, please elaborate and I will try and take another stab at it.

Thanks for the reply and the pdf. That does explain a few differences with Ver 6
I guess if I copied the Detailers computer copy of Ecabinets6 over the quoting computer's Ecabinet6 this should give me a mirror copy. Then every time a file was modified or added, drop box would transfer that to either computer to keep them the same?
The creating of new jobs should be OK. The updating of hardware and materials may be a issue if both users are working in the same area between updating by drop box.
I'll give it a try and let everyone know how it goes.

I'll have to admit defeat on this one. I did a backup of the ecabinets from one computer and then restored on another which already had ecabinets with some hardware and materials listed.
The two ecabinets were not a mirror image.The hardware and material listed were not the same.
If someone could try this with version 6 on two computers I'd be interested in their results.

I use this method to keep my desktop and laptop the same. It works great but make sure both computers have the same operating system or you would have to change backup/restore settings each time you transfer to get the files in the right place.

You can choose how much information you want to transfer in your backup/restore settings. If you backup and restore everything it takes a lot of fime. Most of the time I just transfer my eCabinets .mdb, eCabinets .ini and the local store files.
This coes my sheet stock, board, stock etc. and my hardware database.

Thanks for that tip.
The two computers are Win xp.
I tried pulling over the areas of interest as per your suggestion and it worked. Both computers are the same so that's Mickey Mouse.
I now can throw my designs over to my fellow worker and vice versa.
Now I just have to finalise my quoting which looks like it will be a combination of spreadsheet, Ecabinets and MSword. The Ecabinets proposal is still a work in progress in my mind but that's getting off the topic.
