Ok Guys,
I ran v-5 on my system with little problems,
I am not obviosly on v-6 now, and struggling along, and I run jobs everyday on the router from e-cabs.
The lde editor is almost painful and time regenerating cabinets after the smallest change is crazy for me.I used to make changes in front of customers, I would learn there entire life story waiting for my computer to do anything now!!!
MY question, has any one upgraded their system after v-6 to see if they actually seen a improverment. I hate to throw 2k at my hard drive just to find out there is little or no improvement.
MY desk top is 2-3 yrs old and I need to get this one and several others brought up to speed, but with the pricing of work right now, there"s not much extra to experiment with right now.
Thanks for any help, I have already tried the driver updates and optimization tricks, and I dont really embellish my jobs with a bunch of things I dont need for machining.
Just enough for layout and machining , I use showroom for door styles, mouldings, etc...
new system???????

Re: new system???????
Mike,
I haven't upgraded but have looked into it because of my problems with V6. I spoke with one of the guys at Thermwood and we both agreed that I would need to upgrade to Windows 7 64 Bit so that I could address more ram. To do this I would have to upgrade my processor and on further investigation I found that my motherboard won't support the new processor so it would have to be a new computer for me. I did a little playing around on the Dell site and what I would like is around $6000 so I will have to stick with what I have. I am not sure how I went from having a top notch computer for V5 to a mediocre computer for V6 but I think the blame probably goes to Microsoft for improving their operating system. Mac looks better every day.

The next build of ecabinets will include optimizations for various areas of the software. Hopefully you will see the improvements on your current computer.

Re: new system???????
Kerry,
I feel your pain, I gave my computer guy the specs and told him to build me a kick a-- machine that would run e-cabs like no ones business, he did, and it did...(V5)
Now I am struggling with v-6 to the point that it is causing some unwanted stress, and everyone knows that I am a e-cabs and thermwood fan.
Hope fully what Rick is talking about will help, and I promise not to be the first one to ask WHEN....

Oops, just did.Michael S Murray wrote:...and I promise not to be the first one to ask WHEN....![]()

My system seems to do okay with v6. An uncomplicated room layout (a garage with 1 window, 1 door and 11 cabinets) renders pretty fast. Granted, the cabinets are not complex by any stretch of imagination--just 18d x 30w x 84h with slab doors. Most have 4 adjustable shelves and two have six rabbeted drawers each.
The only problems I've encountered are with nest printing but that seems to be an eCabinets issue that comes and goes.
