Wasteboard Swelling
This morning as I was cutting my tool started digging into the wasteboard .02"(causing my double pass to be ineffective). The last time I flycut was 8 June and it had a thickness of .148 today it was at .169; It has been pretty humid lately, would the extreme humidity cause swelling of the wasteboard?Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks-Keith
Re: Wasteboard Swelling
Hi Keith,
Any moisture will certainly cause the wasteboard to swell. If there is high humidity in your area, you will likely need to perform the flycut routine more often to achieve work surface flatness.

Re: Wasteboard Swelling
Yes they will swell and shrink.
We can start the day with perfect cut through and then by late morning be leaving a unwanted skin of .005 or so.
I think the board will dry out as vacuum is pulled through it.
IT started raining here this spring and hasnt quit, raining almost daily...

Re: Wasteboard Swelling
What this means is to start running a dehumidifier in the shop mine has been on for a month. The next phase is you will notice your tooling and rails start to rust.
I constantly monitor the humidity in the shop
