Is there a setting that will pop up a reminder for a tool when the set hours count down to 0? I thought there was something, but I haven't been able to find it.
You will see a message in Place of Daylight that says Tool Expired. The other option you have with tool expiration is to put in a Substitute Tool Number (Upper Right Hand side of Tool Management screen) within Tool Management. Once a tool has expired and a toolchanges takes place, the Substitute Tool Number will be called.
You can always use AFL to create a customized setup to meet your needs as well..
Ryan, when a substitute tool is used, does it have to be the same identical diameter or is there a tolerance within a few thousandths of an inch such as a new 3/8" bit vs. a sharpened 3/8" bit?
The dia. specified does not matter. The control only looks for given T#. The individual who sets up the tool will have to understand how tool could be used and know if the tool is used in operations that have G41 or G42 for cutter comp., which ultimately look at dia. of tool when cutting and shift accordingly. If the toolpath area in which tool will be used does not contain cutter comp, then you will have to know the amt. of error that can be acceptible (ie: .375 dia. original tool, .370 sharpened tool).
