You can adjust the starting point of the nest - i.e. start from lower left corner, upper right, etc. in control nesting. Settings dialog, in Nesting Parameters. Starting corner.
Also nesting the opposite direction (X versus Y or the other way around) can produce different results.
This can help with odd shaped parts such as you have there. It may not ultimately be worth the effort it takes to play with the filter to get the result you want but you do have control over it if you want.
The algorythm obviously does not handle odd shapes very well especially when they can only be rotated in increments of 45 or 90 degrees and when the material is grained.

I nested this in both the X and Y and it shows a few of the sheets this way. I also tried, as you suggested with changing the starting point and it was still very similar. With this job it adds the on shelf onto the last sheet all by itself when it could be nested in this one.
John,
I would create a new sheet stock material for the curved parts at 66.5" x 49".
Nest.
Then I would create a new sheet stock that is 30" x 49" and nest the remainder of the parts on that. This will get you two small parts on each end of the sheet.
Seems like the easiest way to work around it.
You probably thought of this already though....
It would save you two sheets.
The other suggestions I made are lots more time and effort to get the same result.

I have some parts similar to yours, that cause same headache. Seems odd, but sometimes checking the nest to edge of sheet and then altering the collar can cause better nesting results.

Thanks Fred, I didn't think about that. We ended up changing the sheet size to make it nest the short panels on one sheet. This worked this time.
