Setting Upper cabinet Height Issues :?:

Post by Harrison Webster »

I've just downloaded eCabinets and have been familiarizing myself with the software. While I am a newbie to this type of application I am an experienced IT guy.

First I seem to be having difficulty setting Upper Cabinet Heights. I have set the "Upper cabinet mounting height: to 51" in the standard dimensions settings, which I understand to be the location of the bottom of an upper cabinet on a wall. I've been adjusting some of the template cabinets to match the space I'm working in, set up a room and dimensioned it to match the physical space, and began placing cabinets.

Lower cabinets seem to move and align fine, however the uppers all seem to want to align with the ceiling. I've deleted and the replace some of the single wall cabinets and got them shifted downwards. However the corner cabinets are being problematic. The displayed coordinates are in the attached coord.gif file. The cabinet is now about 1/2 up the wall, and when I try to shift it in the wireframe it refuses to align with the walls or shift upward. If I sett he place mode to free style I can align it to the walls but I can't shift the height...

In IT parlance this seem to a User Issue... Me.. but it does seem inconsistent. Some cabinets will shift others won't.

Am I correct in assuming the the standard dimensions are applied to all cabinets being place in the main view? Any ides why I can't move these cabinets? Any help is always appreciated! Thank you!

The upper cabinet mounting height is the top of the upper cabinet, so should be 84" or so. The other cabinets have problems because the current settings would cause them to intersect with other cabinets, like the base cabinets.

The Help document in the software should help you and our online subscription based video tutorials should help. http://www.thermwood.com/ecabinetsystemstrainingcenter

Thanks Dennis,

I've been using the eCabinetSystemsMadeEasy document. I am making some progress on that front, and seem to be getting the cabinets in the approximate positions... Harrison

If the document you are using is what I think it is, it is probably about 10 years old. Lots of changes since then. We also have a large document called "The Nearly Complete Guide to eCabinet Systems". It is available online. Both the videos and this book offer up-to-date information.
