Audrey, Left click a shelf to highlight. Then right click, go to visibility and click transparent. Better yet hold down Cntl key as you highlight each shelf, then go to visibility, and transparent.

Make a Display cube the size of your shelf then do the texture match as Jody said. You can then copy and paste the rest of the shelves. If you want the material to show up on cutlists, create a sheet stock called glass then make your shelves as display panels from this material. You still have to do the texture match once the shelves are in the cabinet. Don't forget to associate the display panels or cubes to your cabinet before you save.
