"Air cut"
I've been asked by our CabinetVision integrator if I know how to "air-cut". I have never done this before on our thermwood, and don't really know if there is a quick and dirty setting somewhere in control nesting to do so. My first instinct is to just change the Z offset for the program, then change it back after all has been verified in the air. Do you suppose this is Best Practice? Is this the "only" way, or are there other methods to cheat with? Any advise is welcomed, as our integration will take place this coming Monday. TIA

Changing the Z height is the only way I know to do it.

Rather than messing with your program, simply change the wasteboard thickness in Machine Variables.

You can simply add 1" to the WASTEBOARD variable. (wasteboard : 0.325->1.325) Unless you have an older machine, the WASTEBOARD value is stored in the MACHINE VARIABLES database. This way you do not have to monkey with the program code. Works with ANY NC program and you simply remove the added inch afterwards. (wasteboard : 1.325->0.325)
Aside: Is your CV integrator setting you up to use the CV Layered DXF for Control Nesting interface or is CV itself nesting and generating the code. If the latter, then Control Nesting settings will not do anything to the NC programs CV produces.

That's the brilliant answer I was looking for. I should have know this intuitively; I often manually change the wasteboard thickness in tune with changes in the weather so as to keep from rutting up the spoilboard too deeply. Thanks to everyone!!
