Problem Printing Nested Sheets

Ladies & Gents,

Duane & I were stumped to day by an issue w/ printing nested jobs.... From the Nesting Dialog page: whenever I try to print a Sheet or View, about 3\" from the top of the page is truncated. It's as if the top margin is set to -3\". This occurs regardless of wether I use the Print Setup for \"View\" or \"Sheets\" and could not be remiedied through maniplulation of the page orierntation, paper source or size or any other obvious printer properties.

Labels are printing fine.

Any ideas?

If you don't already have one of the PDF converters installed, download one and print to it and see if the resulting PDF has the same missing area.

There are several available--I use PrimoPDF. They all install as a printer.

Thanks ofr the idea, but no luck, comes out with the same truncation only it looks better.

That was actually more than just an idea, it rules out your printer driver as the culprit.

Now on to the deeper stuff. Here is a list of questions that will help me to diagnose the problem.

1. Does everything else (ecabinets AND other programs) print correctly?

2. Do you get the same results with Print Preview?

3. Do you get any print errors in the system event log (right-click on My Computer, manage, event viewer, system then look for print)?

4. What kind of printer are you using?

5. What print processor and default data type are you using (right-click on the printer, properties, advanced, print processor)?

6. Is the printer connected directly to the computer or is it a network printer?

7. What kind of computer are you using?

8. What operating system are you using (XP Home, XP Pro, XP 64, etc)?

9. Do you have ALL operating system updates installed?

10. Do you have the latest printer driver installed?

11. Do you have any other strange behavior with your computer (not necessarily with eCabinets)?

Thanks for your interest and help. My responses listed below.
1. yes, including all other graphics applications.
2. yes, regardless of which \"Print setup\" option I select
3. No
4. HP 6210 All in one. this isssue predates the use of this printer and was encountered w/ the HP K80 I used to use.
5. Win Print, RAW
6. Direct USB connection, shared over a wireless network w/ a laptop. Laptop is a mirror image of this desktop w/ respect to printer, drivers & OS.
7. Its a high end custom built AMD based PC built by my local computer wiz. Was top of the line about 1.5 years ago.
8. XP Professional

10. Yes.
11. No, the only unusual thing thats surfaced recently is a signifigant reduction in e-cab nesting performance since the install of build 10.

In the past I've always worked around this hassle by nesting the job, doulble clicking on the individual sheets and moving the inage down on the screen before printing. Now that the jobs are getting larger, and the schedules getting shorter, i figured I better try and resolve this.

Again, the help is much appreicated.

I noticed in your last paragraph you said you had tried moving the image down the screen before printing, have you tried zooming out on the image the same way as in the cabinet editor? Zoom out until you can see the top of the nest and see if it prints correctly. I ran into something like this and had to zoom out to print the nest.

Are you on the latest build of eCabinets?

I have had similar problems with the top 3inches being cut off in the preview. I have lived with it for sometime. I recalled a posting a couple months back on this saem subject. I did a search earlier today and found it. Here are the suggestions listed below made by other members. Sorry I don't remember the posting, I simply copied the responses and sent them home from work.

Try changing your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024. Most likely the first of the two.

I have the same thing happen. I don't know of a change in settings that will change it. You can however, hold the shift key right click and move the image down to see the header.


You can always zoom out by holding both mouse buttons and rolling the mouse forward.

I am having a similar problem to what was described in this post. When I attempt to print the nest diagrams, it cuts off the top few inches and the right side (the second dimension is getting cutoff). I checked my screen resolution as suggested, and I attempted zooming out so the diagram would be smaller. When I tried to print after zooming out, it caused an error and Ecabinets shut down. Has this problem been resolved, or is there another way around it? Thanks.
