I ran across the following suggestion for making pilasters for the front of entertainment centers from Bill Rutherford.
'You did not mention if you are planning to cut these on a router or if you need this just for display purposes. In either case I would recommend taking another cabinet (use the upper frameless from the standard directory.
In construction settings set top to none, remove the check from has deck, in the back tab change left and right side to back flush.
Change the cabinet width to 4\" and then change the height to the height of your pilaster, finally change the cabinet depth to whatever you want the side pieces to be minus 3/4\"
This will give you the U shaped channel. You can then position it using the rotate and align items commands in the assembly editor.
To create the flutes you can take the back into the part editor and create your flutes.
Hope this help\"

It worked great until I tried to run molding around it.
When I attempt to place molding on the front (back) of the pilaster, which is actually a cabinet turned backwards, the molding is facing the wrong way.
What do i do to get the molding around the pilaster???
