KD/RTA fastener info needed

Post by Paul Ellis »

Anybody,

I have never used KD/Rta fasteners but I quickly have to learn how. I recieved a design for a computer workstation which I have to give a quote on. I can see that if it is assembled it will NOT fit through a standard door. So, I have to get some info on the fasteners, construction method, tools needed , basically anything that will help me. If my quote is accepted, this guy wants at least forty stations built.

PLEASE, can someone direct me to a source of information or e-mail me instructions (with sketches if possible)
paul.ellis@absamail.co.za

Thank you in advance

Paul,

Just build the desk the way you want every joint to fit and then globally choose rta construction. You may need to go back and change some sides that the fittings are applied to but its a good starting point. You may also want to apply other types of jointery to some specific parts.

Update on this: To start with these people need 200 workstations built.
Fortunately, the compartment where the computer components will fit has not been finalized. BUT, I still need detailed instructions on KD/RTA assemblies. If someone can just point me in the right direction or if there is a book that I can order, it would be much appreciated! I want to be prepared by the time the design is finalized (the woodworking part of the design I finished in two hours) After I know how to do the KD/RTA thing I am sure I am going to be looking for a production sharing shop, but that is another worry for another day!

search part no. 263.10.705
this is the fitting programmed in the contruction settings, in ecab. you jst need a screw driver/drill and possibly a mallot to assemble with this kd/rta. the rouer does all the work. hope this is helpful.

or download catalog PDF,
clear design

Justin,
Thank you, I think I got enough answers from the catalogue. The task seemed quite initimidating when I knew nothing about it, but actually it looks easy enough after looking at the catalogue. When the order comes through I will post my experience here
