I need to place multiple drawer boxes, with fixed drawer heighs, with different spacing between the drawer boxes, in a pantry type cabinet. I tried adding rails in the cabinet and inserting a drawer box but when I delete the rail the drawer box disappears. Has anyone found a way to do this. Thanks....
Hi Marvin,
You can accomplish this with the add drawer box feature. It takes some work, but it can be done. I am very behind in my work right now, but if you cant get it, I might be able to help later tonight. I have built several pantrys like this just not enough to have the steps in my limited capacity brain.
I think this will give you what you are wanting. I’m going to assume that you are adding pull out type drawers behind doors and not drawer boxes with drawer fronts:
* go to the drawer box editor and select the complete empty opening that you want these drawer boxes in.
* add the first dbx, and when the Add Drawer Box(es) dialog comes up, set the drawer box height to the desired value (I chose 6”), set it to “adjust top”, set the bottom inset to the gap that you would like between the drawer box and the deck/bottom rail. Set any other insets that you may want (But do not set the top inset to any value <leave zero>)
* select ok and you will have one box 6” tall.
* Now, repeat the process until done: the bottom inset will now be the distance from the new box bottom to the last box top.
Hey Marvin, this is the way I do mine. I use fixed shelves with back inset (rail) that way I can adjust my openings easily. You can make the rails 1/8 wide by adjusting your back inset that way they won't interfere greatly with your nesting diagrams.
